We are happy to announce our Winter 2013 300 hour Yoga Teacher Training! If you have previously taken a Teacher Training and feel it left you unprepared to teach this training will give you the seeds of knowledge you desire to further blossom as a teacher. If you are looking for an in-depth training to provide a strong foundation within the system of Yoga; but designed to guide you on the path to finding your divine voice as a teacher this training will support and nurture you on the path to teach! If you are a dedicated student who desires to weave the 8 limbs of yoga more deeply into your daily practice this training will provide you the knowledge your inner voice is searching for!
We at Amrita Yoga & Wellness have designed a training to give you a wholistic, in-depth, personalized, and complete foundational learning experience taught by our experienced on-staff teachers and renowned guest teachers who truly embody the system of Yoga!
Why 300 Hours of training?
Through our years of teaching and taking many, many trainings collectively we truly feel in order to get the most solid foundation you must not only learn about the system, but practice, embody, and live what you desire to teach! In our 300 hour training (more than many offer as the standard initial training is 200 hours) it will not only be learning the 8 limbs of Yoga and more; but practice of the system weaved into your daily life, hours of assisting and practicing teaching Yoga. All this will be completed with the guidance of experienced, knowledgable, passionate teachers who have made this practice a lifestyle and have dedicated themselves to sharing the divine knowledge with others.
What will I learn in the 300 hours?
Asana, Pranayama, Alignment and adjustments, Mantra, Mudra, Sequencing, Anatomy & Physiology and how it applies to Asana, Sanskrit & Philosophy, Modifications & contraindications, Use of props, Yogic diet, Yoga as service, Intro to Ayurveda, Business & ethics of Yoga, Energy channels, Koshas, Chakras, Meditation, Dieties, and more!
Who will I learn from?
Heather Rice E-RYT 500, Meg Townsend E-RYT 500, Max Strom E-RYT 500, Jill Jones Iyengar Certified Teacher, Leslie Kaminoff of the Breathing Project, NYC, Kati Brennan E-RYT 500 and adjunct professor of Hindu philosophy at Temple Univeristy and Sanskrit Teacher for Sri Dharma Mittra in NYC. What kind of time commitment is involved?
We will meet formally 2 weekends a month on Saturday and Sunday for 6 months (all formal dates must be attended!). Then you will have 6 months (can be completed sooner) of assignments. The times we will meet will be 8am -9pm Saturday and Sunday (breaks will be provided).
Dates of Formal Commitment:
1/26/13, 1/27/13, 2/9/13, 2/10/13, 3/9/13, 3/10/13, 4/6/13, 4/7/13, 4/20/13, 4/21/13, 5/4/13, 5/5/13, 5/18/13, 5/19/13, 6/1/13, 6/2/13, 6/15/13, 6/16/13
In addition, there will be 3 mandatory workshops that need to be attended by guest teacher Max Strom. Jill Jones, and Heather Rice. Enrolled students will receive 15% off the early bird price for workshops with Heather Rice & Jill Jones. Enrolled Students will have access to Early Bird pricing with Max Strom.
Other Commitments to be completed in 6 months after 6/16/13:
60 classes taken at Amrita Yoga & Wellness (you will receive 50% discount on the cost of this, this can also be started upon start of the TT)
20 classes taken at other studios (can be started upon start of TT; suggested list of studios and teachers will be provided)
50 hours of Karma service (25 hours must be completed at Amrita, 25 hours at a charity of your choice)
12 hours of assisting teaching at Amrita Yoga & Wellness
12 hours of teaching Yoga in a casual atmosphere (to friends and family)
Attend 2 mandatory evaluation meetings with Heather & Meg. These will be held in small groups and give us a chance to provide guidance on your teaching while answering any questions you may have.
How do I enroll and what is the cost?
To apply to enroll please submit a 250+ word essay on why you desire to teach yoga, why you chose Amrita Yoga TT, what you desire to get out of a TT. and what about yoga inspires you to learn more and have the ability to share the knowledge with others. Please submit this to heather@amritayogawellness.com no later than 12/23/12.
$1,000 deposit due by 1/1/13 to hold your spot (we will only be taking 15 students in order to provide a personalized, well guided experience). Please note deposits and payments are non-refundable! If you decide not to take the training any payments or deposits can be applied to classes, wellness services, retail, and workshops at Amrita.
$2,800 if paid in full by 1/1/13
$3,200 if paid after 1/1/13 or enrolled in payment plan. Payment plan, after $1,000 deposit is received six payments of $367 are due each month before our first scheduled weekend and must be paid in full by 6/16/13.
